Copper Wire and Cable Industry Gradually Resumes, End-Use Demand Expected to Rise Next Week

Published: Feb 27, 2026 10:35
[SMM Copper Wire and Cable Update] After the holiday, domestic wire and cable enterprises have resumed work gradually but have not yet reached full production. The recovery in end-use consumption has been relatively slow, and enterprises are currently focusing on fulfilling pre-holiday orders, with a clear divergence in order structure—orders from State Grid and other power sectors provide strong support, while orders in the construction and communication sectors remain weak. According to SMM, end-use demand is expected to be gradually released next week, and the industry's operating rate is projected to rebound to nearly 60%.

High costs and low demand lead to weak expectations for the brass bar market
[SMM Brass Bar Update] The current brass bar market is in a phase of "high costs, low demand, and weak expectations." In the short term, as small and medium-sized enterprises gradually resume operations after the Lantern Festival, the operating rate is expected to slowly rebound. However, before copper prices show a significant pullback and end-use demand recovers substantially, the overall industry recovery still faces considerable pressure.
