[SMM Iron & Steel] Liberia Targets Historic 30 MTPA Output as ArcelorMittal Expands

The Liberian Minister of Mines and Energy announced at the 2026 African Mining Indaba that the country expects to triple its iron ore production to 30 million metric tons this year. The growth is spearheaded by ArcelorMittal Liberia, which is ramping up its new concentrator and logistics chain to a Phase 2 target of 20 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) in 2026. New entrants, including Cavalla Resources and Zodiac, are also slated to begin operations by year-end.
