EAF Steel Mills' Holiday-Wide Shutdown, Production Pace Grinds to a Halt

As of February 24, the operating rate of 50 EAF steel mills producing construction steel nationwide was 0%, down 1% MoM; the capacity utilization rate was 0%, down 19.41% MoM; and the daily average production of construction steel was 0 mt, down 43,200 mt MoM.

During the survey period (February 17–February 24), domestic EAF enterprises remained largely idle due to the Chinese New Year holiday, with electric furnace production nearly halted. According to survey findings, most idled EAF steel mills are expected to resume production around the Lantern Festival (March 3), and construction steel output is projected to gradually rebound as EAF mills restart operations.
