BYD Advances in Solid-State and Sodium-Ion Battery Tech, Eyes 2027 for Small-Scale Solid-State Production

Published: Feb 9, 2026 11:54
On February 9, BYD's investor relations department announced that BYD was exploring multiple approaches in the field of solid-state batteries, with sulphide solid-state batteries as a key technological direction. Breakthroughs were achieved in areas such as battery lifespan and fast charging, with small-scale production expected to be realized by 2027.
In the field of sodium-ion batteries, BYD's third-generation product technology platform was already in the development stage, and a sodium-ion battery product capable of 10,000 cycles was developed. The mass production period will be determined based on actual market and client demand.
