Lucid Signs New Graphite Supply Agreement with Graphite One to Strengthen US Supply Chain Layout

Published: Jun 6, 2025 09:04
On June 4, US electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Lucid announced that it had reached a long-term supply agreement with Graphite One to procure natural graphite from the US, further strengthening its local supply chain layout for critical raw materials and resources. Following previous cooperation agreements with Syrah Resources and Graphite One, Lucid's future car models will increasingly utilize natural and high-performance synthetic graphite materials mined and produced in the US by these companies. These materials will be supplied to Lucid's battery suppliers through targeted supply agreements.

On June 4, US EV manufacturer Lucid announced that it had reached a long-term supply agreement with Graphite One to procure US-sourced natural graphite, further solidifying its domestic supply chain layout for critical raw materials and resources.

Following previous cooperation agreements with Syrah Resources and Graphite One, Lucid's future car models will increasingly utilize natural and high-performance synthetic graphite materials sourced and produced domestically in the US by these companies. These materials will be supplied to Lucid's battery suppliers through targeted supply agreements.

Marc Winterhoff, interim CEO of Lucid, stated, "Building a domestic supply chain for critical materials in the US not only drives economic growth and enhances resilience against external factors and market fluctuations but also helps us further reduce the carbon footprint of our vehicles. These partnerships underscore our commitment to advancing US innovation and manufacturing through domestic supply chains."

According to the latest agreement, Graphite One will begin supplying natural graphite to Lucid and its battery suppliers from 2028, with the raw material sourced from the Graphite Creek deposit located north of Nome, Alaska, US. The agreement builds on the cooperation statement reached between Lucid and Graphite One last year, whereby Graphite One will procure raw materials from its proposed Active Anode Material (AAM) plant in Warren, Ohio, US, and supply synthetic graphite to Lucid and its battery suppliers starting from 2028.

Anthony Huston, CEO of Graphite One, said, "This agreement is a continuation of our historic agreement with Lucid reached in 2024, marking the first-ever cooperation between a US graphite developer and a US EV manufacturer for synthetic graphite supply. We are working to establish a complete domestic graphite supply chain to meet market demand and strengthen US industrial and defense capabilities."

Additionally, starting from 2026, Syrah Resources will also supply natural graphite AAM to Lucid. Under the agreement, Syrah will collaborate with Lucid or its battery suppliers for a three-year period. Syrah's natural graphite AAM will be sourced from its vertically integrated AAM production site in Vidalia, Louisiana, US.

Through this series of natural and synthetic graphite supply agreements, Lucid continues to strengthen its domestic supply chain construction in the US, ensuring a stable supply of critical minerals. As a vital component of lithium-ion batteries, both synthetic and natural graphite are crucial for achieving fast-charging performance.

[SMM PV News] RayGen Deploys 1 MW Solar and Thermal Storage System in Brazil
Melbourne-based RayGen has fully commissioned a 1 MW concentrated solar and long-duration thermal energy storage system in Petrolina, Brazil, in partnership with Axia Energia. The facility utilizes RayGen's 'PV Ultra' technology, which uses mirrors to concentrate sunlight onto modules while capturing heat in a water-based storage system. This design achieves a 70% round-trip efficiency. Axia is testing the technology for potential large-scale deployment to help power 'AI factories.' RayGen already operates a commercial facility in Australia and is currently advancing a 200 MW/1,200 MWh utility-scale project in South Australia.

[SMM Tin Flash: China’s PCB Industry Investment in 2025 Was up About 3% YoY, with AI Computing Power PCBs Becoming the Core Growth Engine]
According to the latest statistics from CINNO•ICResearch, total investment in China’s PCB industry reached approximately 105.3 billion yuan in 2025, up 2.9% YoY from 2024. Although the number of investment projects in China’s PCB industry pulled back in 2025 compared with 2024, investment size per project increased significantly, with the largest single investment also rising accordingly. The investment landscape became more concentrated in the high-end segment, with an optimized structure. PCBs dedicated to AI computing power became the clear main theme, with key investment flowing into high-end products such as advanced HDI, high-layer-count boards, and high-speed, high-frequency boards; automotive electronics PCBs followed closely behind and posted strong growth, benefiting from upgrades in NEVs and intelligent driving; communications and industrial control PCBs provided steady support for 5G and data center construction. Overall, the industry moved away from the low and mid-end fragmented layout of 2024 and officially entered a new stage led by the high-end segment.
