Silicon metal exports increased slightly by 2% MoM in April [SMM Analysis]

According to customs data: Exports: In April 2025, China's silicon metal exports reached 60,500 mt, up 2% MoM and down 9% YoY. From January to April 2025, cumulative silicon metal exports stood at 216,700 mt, down 7% YoY. Imports: In April 2025, China's silicon metal imports amounted to 500 mt, down 70% MoM and 83% YoY. From January to April 2025, cumulative silicon metal imports reached 5,200 mt, down 43% YoY.

SMM May 27 report: According to customs data, in terms of exports, China's silicon metal exports in April 2025 reached 60,500 mt, up 2% MoM and down 9% YoY. From January to April 2025, cumulative silicon metal exports stood at 216,700 mt, down 7% YoY. In terms of imports, China's silicon metal imports in April 2025 amounted to 500 mt, down 70% MoM and 83% YoY. Cumulative imports from January to April 2025 reached 5,200 mt, down 43% YoY.

In terms of exports, a total of 45 countries or regions were exported to in April. The top 10 export destinations accounted for 83.6% of total exports, with a volume of 50,600 mt. The top five export destinations accounted for 59.8% of total exports, with a volume of 36,200 mt. The export volumes by ranking were as follows: India (10,700 mt), Japan (10,500 mt), South Korea (5,700 mt), Thailand (4,800 mt), and the Netherlands (4,500 mt). In terms of imports, import data significantly decreased in April, with domestic silicon metal prices showing a clear advantage.

[SMM Coking Coal and Coke Daily Brief] News: Leading coke enterprises initiated a coke price increase of 50-55 yuan/mt, effective from 00:00 on April 13. In terms of supply, coke enterprises suffered relatively small losses, and production enthusiasm was moderate. Current coke supply remained stable. Combined with good shipments from coke enterprises, coke inventory continued to stay at low levels, with some coke enterprises holding back from selling. Demand side, steel mills maintained strong production enthusiasm, hot metal production increased again, and daily coke consumption rose. Additionally, affected by maintenance on some railway sections, coke deliveries were disrupted, and coke inventory at some steel mills declined slightly. In summary, some coke enterprises still held bullish expectations for the market outlook, and the coke market is expected to be generally stable with slight rise in the short term.
