Sanmenxia City Drives Aluminum Industry Transformation with Enhanced Industry Chain

Published: Apr 30, 2025 23:54
As a city covering the "bauxite - alumina - aluminum - deep processing of aluminum - secondary aluminum" entire industry chain, Sanmenxia City is taking "extending, supplementing, and strengthening the industry chain" as a breakthrough to drive the aluminum industry to transition from "resource-dependent" to "innovation-driven." Currently, there are 24 key aluminum industry enterprises in the city, including East Hope and Kaiman Aluminum, with an annual production capacity of 5.1 million mt of alumina, 240,000 mt of aluminum, 450,000 mt of deep-processed aluminum products (including aluminum plate/sheet and strip, aluminum extrusion, etc.), and 6 million wheel hubs. In the aluminum-based new materials industry chain, a pattern has emerged with East Hope and Kaiman Aluminum as the leading enterprises for alumina, Hengkang Aluminum as the leading enterprise for aluminum, and Baowu Aluminum as the leading enterprise for processing. In 2024, the output value of the city's aluminum industry exceeded 26 billion yuan, and an aluminum-based new materials industry chain with resilience, innovation, and a green foundation is accelerating its rise.

Secondary Aluminum Industry Leaders' Operating Rate Drops to 53.4% Amid Cost and Demand Pressures
[SMM Aluminum Flash] The operating rate of secondary aluminum industry leaders fell by 0.5 percentage point WoW to 53.4% this week, pressured mainly by both cost and demand factors. Cost side, tightening invoice supervision across multiple regions stuck, leading to difficulties in compliant procurement and high tax burdens. Enterprise profits came under pressure and even turned negative, prompting some producers to cut or suspend production. Demand side, the downstream continued its weak off-season pattern, with demand from end-users such as OEMs pulling back. Market transactions were dominated by rigid restocking. If the invoice supply issue continues to worsen, along with a further deepening of the off-season, the industry operating rate will still face downward pressure, and the supply-
