DRC, Rwanda FMs Sign Declaration on US Investment in Great Lakes Region

【DRC, Rwandan Foreign Ministers Sign Declaration in US】 Recently, Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner, Foreign Minister of the DRC, and Olivier Nduhungirehe, Foreign Minister of Rwanda, signed this Declaration of Principles on the 25th. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio attended the signing ceremony as a witness and also signed the document. Rubio stated that lasting peace in the Great Lakes region would open the door to greater US and Western investment, bringing economic opportunities and prosperity. According to Reuters, citing the investment potential outlined in the declaration, the US government is currently negotiating investments worth billions of US dollars in the mining sector of the DRC. The DRC is rich in mineral resources such as copper, cobalt, lithium, tantalum, diamonds, and gold. Additionally, Rwanda indicated this week that it is also in negotiations with the US over a potential mineral deal.
