【Malaysia: ASEAN Plans to Introduce Regional EV Standardization Policy】ASEAN plans to launch a policy framework for EV standardization at the ASEAN Summit in May 2025, promoting the popularization, collaborative development, and low-carbon transformation of EVs within the region. The policy will unify battery technology standards, cross-border charging facility specifications, and establish a specific implementation timetable, aiming to enhance the international competitiveness of ASEAN's EV industry. Tengku Zafrul, Malaysia's Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, stated that ASEAN leaders have already initiated discussions on standardized EV policies. The policy framework will strengthen technical interoperability among member states, reduce industry chain costs through resource integration, and attract global investment.
