This week, the mine-mouth price of 64-grade alkaline concentrates in Shandong region increased by 10 to 875 yuan per ton on a dry basis before tax. Steel mills simultaneously raised their prices, and most miners maintained normal production, with a slight accumulation in inventory. It is reported that a major local mine underwent short-term maintenance, but the impact on overall supply was limited. Currently, most local mines and beneficiation plants are operating normally, focusing on producing and selling simultaneously. Local steel mills did not implement significant production restrictions, providing some support for the demand of local iron ore concentrates. Some local iron ore concentrate resources flowed to the Wu'an area in Hebei, and overall market transactions improved. It is expected that the price of local iron ore concentrates will remain stable in the short term. 【SMM Steel】

[SMM Steel] Price increases by Hoa Phat Group and Formosa Ha Tinh Steel, alongside Vietnam’s 27.83% anti-circumvention duty on Chinese HRC, have supported regional sentiment. Meanwhile, Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act tariff adjustment reduced duties on derivative products to 25%, while core tariffs remained 50%. Combined with China’s capacity control policies and higher raw material costs linked to Middle East tensions, supply is tightening, leading market participants to expect a gradually improving steel market outlook.
