Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On March 21, Geely Auto Group officially launched the Coolray SUV in Vietnam, marking a key step in its expansion within the ASEAN market.

The company said it will capitalize on the strategic partnership with Vietnam's Tasco Group to accelerate sales network development and establish a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) assembly plant in Vietnam. By integrating product offerings, distribution channels, and local manufacturing, Geely aims to drive Vietnam's automotive industry upgrade while deepening its footprint in the region.

Targeting young consumers and nuclear families, the Coolray enters Vietnam's B-segment SUV market with three variants: the Standard (VND 538 million), the Premium (VND 578 million), and the Flagship (VND 628 million). Under the hood, it features a 1.5L gasoline engine delivering 177 hp and 255 Nm of peak torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds.

Geely is set to further expand its lineup in Vietnam, with the all-electric EX5 SUV and the luxury flagship Monjaro SUV scheduled to hit the Vietnamese market in the second quarter this year, reinforcing its commitment to new energy vehicle adoption and catering to the mid-to-high-end SUV segment.

Over the next three years, the automaker plans to introduce nine models in Vietnam, covering internal combustion engine, hybrid, and pure electric powertrains, with both five- and seven-seater configurations to meet diverse market demands.

Beyond product expansion, Geely Auto Group is working with its local distributor, Tasco Auto, to enhance its dealership network in the country. Currently, 15 dealerships have been established across key Vietnamese cities and regions, offering convenient sales and service access. The company aims to expand its footprint to 50 outlets by the end of 2025, strengthening its sales and aftersales support across the country.

In addition to its product and distribution strategy, Geely Auto Group will partner with Tasco Group to build an automobile assembly plant in Thai Binh province. The facility, covering 30 hectares with a total investment of approximately $168 million, is set to break ground this year and commence production by the end of 2026. With an initial annual capacity of 75,000 vehicles, the CKD facility will support multi-model production, initially assembling Lynk & Co and Geely-branded vehicles before expanding to additional brands in the future.
