BYD boasts 163.95% YoY spike in Feb. 2025 auto sales

BYD Company Limited (BYD) reported sales of 322,846 new vehicles for the month of February 2025, marking a remarkable year-on-year surge of 163.95%, and also showing a month-on-month growth of 7.42%...

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD Company Limited ("BYD") reported sales of 322,846 new vehicles for the month of February 2025, marking a remarkable year-on-year surge of 163.95%, and also showing a month-on-month growth of 7.42%.

Of the new vehicles sold last month, passenger vehicle sales reached 318,233 units, a staggering 161.39% hike compared to the prior-year period and a month-on-month growth of 7.35%. Breaking down the sales by powertrain solutions, battery electric vehicle sales totaled 124,902 units, reflecting a year-on-year soar of 127.48%, but indicating a slight month-on-month decline of 0.38%. Meanwhile, plug-in hybrid electric vehicle sales amounted to 193,331 units, showing a dramatic increase of 189.24% year-on-year and also posting a 13.01% month-on-month growth, contributing 60.75% to BYD's overall passenger vehicle sales.

Additionally, BYD announced that its overseas sales of new energy passenger vehicles reached 67,025 units in the second month of 2025, marking a year-on-year spike of 187.8%. 

Breaking the monthly sales down by brand and product series, the Dynasty and Ocean series together sold 304,673 vehicles in February, displaying a robust surge of 167.1% from the year-ago period. The DENZA brand recorded sales of 8,513 vehicles (+85.1% YoY), while the FANFGCHENGBAO and YANGWANG brands logged sales of 4,942 units and 105 units, respectively.

The company also sold 4,613 commercial vehicles last month, which skyrocketed 719.36% over a year earlier and also grew 12.73% over a month ago.

For the first two months of the year, the company sold a total of 623,384 vehicles, which zoomed up 92.59% from the year-ago period.
