Beijing (Gasgoo)- Chinese urban air mobility (UAM) tech company EHang announced on Feb. 25 it has signed a strategic framework agreement with JAC Motors and Hefei Guoxian Holdings Co., Ltd. to establish a joint venture in Hefei for constructing a cutting-edge, automated manufacturing base for low-altitude electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircrafts.

The tripartite collaboration aims to co-develop, produce, and commercialize intelligent, electric, and unmanned eVTOL aircrafts, leveraging Hefei's robust new energy vehicle (NEV) supply chain and aviation manufacturing expertise. The partners will drive standardization of key components, build a unified industrial ecosystem, and accelerate the commercialization of low-altitude economy and next-gen 3D transportation networks.

JAC Motors will contribute its automotive manufacturing prowess—including mature production line design, advanced automation capabilities, and efficient supply chain management—to scale eVTOL production. EHang will provide its technical expertise in eVTOL R&D, airworthiness certification, and operational experience, while Guoxian Holdings will facilitate policy support and resource integration.

This is buit on EHang's existing footprint in Hefei, where it partnered with the municipal government in October 2023 to launch two UAM eVTOL operation centers at Luogang Central Park. The new manufacturing base marks a critical step in preparing for low-altitude commercial operations, with plans to expand infrastructure, train personnel, and stockpile production capacity.
