Aluminum Scrap Imports and Source Countries, January-December 2024

According to the latest customs data, domestic aluminum scrap imports in December 2024 were approximately 158,000 mt, up 14.29% MoM and down about 2.3% YoY. From January to December 2024, the total domestic aluminum scrap imports were approximately 1.7852 million mt, up 1.8% YoY.

Regarding import source countries, from January to December, the main sources of domestic aluminum scrap imports were Thailand, Japan, the UK, and Malaysia. Among them, aluminum scrap imports from Thailand accounted for 16.7% of the total domestic imports, while imports from Malaysia accounted for 11.8%.
