Beijing (Gasgoo)- On November 25, Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker Leapmotor signed a strategic agreement with Myanmar's NPK MOTOR to launch a KD (Knock Down) assembly project.

The collaboration marks a significant milestone in Leapmotor's globalization strategy while contributing to the development of the NEV industry in Myanmar and the broader Southeast Asian region.

The Myanmar government has been actively promoting NEV adoption through tariff incentives and infrastructure development policies, aiming to enhance the competitiveness of its NEV industry. NPK MOTOR, a prominent local automotive distributor and manufacturer, has been advancing NEV sales and charging network deployment, making it the top seller of NEVs in Myanmar.

Under this partnership, Leapmotor will leverage its expertise in services, technology, resources, and branding to provide comprehensive support for the KD project. The project is expected to strengthen Leapmotor's foothold in Myanmar, ensuring the successful localization and growth of its operations.

Specifically, the establishment of an assembly line in Myanmar will enhance Leapmotor's cost competitiveness, introduce cutting-edge NEV products to the region, and address local demand for green mobility solutions. Additionally, the initiative will create tax revenue and job opportunities, bolster Myanmar's EV industrial chain, and further promote the globalization of Chinese automotive manufacturing.
