Beijing (Gasgoo)- On August 22, Chinese automaker Dongfeng Motor launched its DONGFENG BOX all-electric vehicle (EV) in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, marking the brand's first official debut of a right-hand drive model in an overseas market.

This move signals a new phase in Dongfeng’s strategic expansion into right-hand drive markets.

Nepal currently has the highest EV penetration rate in Asia. Zhu Xun, General Manager of Dongfeng Motor’s Southeast Asia Regional Headquarters of the Passenger Vehicle Overseas Marketing Division, emphasized, “Nepal is one of our most important and promising markets. Our goal is to enter the Nepalese market with the best quality, highest safety, and most advanced technology.”

Positioned as a “Big Hatch with Five Star Luxury” in the local market, the DONGFENG BOX boasts an elegant design, spacious interior, frameless doors, and advanced features such as Level 2 intelligent driving technology, underscoring its unique appeal and functionality.

From August 27, the DONGFENG BOX is being showcased at Nepal's annual NADA Auto Show for a week, alongside 24 other automotive brands. According to Dongfeng Motor, the company has set a target of securing around 500 orders for the DONGFENG BOX in 2024.
