CPC, State Council Urge Circular Economy Boost to Reach 4.5 Billion Tons Solid Waste Utilization by 2030

[CPC Central Committee and State Council: Vigorously Develop Circular Economy, Aiming to Reach an Annual Utilization of Bulk Solid Waste of Around 4.5 Billion Tons by 2030] The CPC Central Committee and the State Council issued opinions on accelerating the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development. The opinions propose to vigorously develop the circular economy, deeply promote circular economy to assist carbon reduction actions, promote resource-recycling production models, vigorously develop the resource recycling industry, promote high-quality development of the remanufacturing industry, improve the quality of recycled materials and products, and expand the scale of substitution for virgin resources. Promote the classification of household waste and increase resource utilization rates. Improve the waste recycling system, strengthen waste classification and recycling capabilities, and enhance the scale, standardization, and refinement of recycling. By 2030, the annual utilization of bulk solid waste will reach around 4.5 billion tons, and the main resource output rate will increase by about 45% compared with 2020.
