Changan Automobile boasts YoY growth in NEV, overseas sales in July 2024

Chinese automaker Changan Automobile’s monthly sales in July 2024 amounted to 170,631 vehicles, indicating a 17.86% year-on-year drop, according to the company’s announcement on August 6.

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Chinese automaker Changan Automobile’s monthly sales in July 2024 amounted to 170,631 vehicles, indicating a 17.86% year-on-year drop, according to the company’s announcement on August 6.

Despite the overall downturn, Changan Automobile’s new energy vehicle (NEV) sector still recorded prominent performance in July. Of the vehicles sold in the past month, 45,418 units were NEVs under the automaker’s wholly-owned brands, up 14.94% from a year ago. In the first seven months of this year, Changan Automobile’s wholly-owned brands sold a total of 344,483 NEVs, which surged 59.8% year on year.

In the Jan.-Jul. period of this year, Changan Automobile's cumulative sales volume came in at 1,504,682 vehicles, which rose 5.71% from the year-ago period. Cumulative sales of vehicles under the company’s wholly-owned brands totaled 1,260,508 units in the seven-month period, representing a 5.82% hike year-over-year. Among these vehicles sold in the period, 919,075 units were passenger cars, climbing up 1.77% from that of the previous year.

In the first seven months of 2024, Changan Automobile’s wholly-owned brands shipped 228,607 vehicles to overseas markets, which leapt 67.65% year over year.

As to Changan Automobile's joint ventures, Changan Ford and Changan Mazda posted a respective 18.53% and 12.42% dip in July sales, which stood at 16,799 units and 4,324 units.
