Beijing (Gasgoo)- On July 4, during the 2024 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), autonomous driving tech firm AutoX's RoboTaxi received Shanghai's first fully unmanned passenger transport permit, marking another significant achievement after obtaining Shanghai's initial fully driverless road test license in 2023.
AutoX has already secured driverless permits in six major cities including Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Silicon Valley, and Hangzhou, covering a total area of over 600 square kilometers globally. In these cities, AutoX has deployed large-scale RoboTaxi operations and has begun commercial operations in Shanghai and Shenzhen. The company now operates autonomous driving services across more than 3,000 square kilometers of area worldwide.
During the WAIC, AutoX successfully conducted a fully autonomous driving roundtrip test from Jinqiao in Shanghai’s urban area to Pudong International Airport. The RoboTaxi adeptly navigated highways, ramps, toll stations, and temporary construction zones, laying the foundation for providing airport shuttle services on one of China's busiest direct expressway routes. AutoX's autonomous driving test area in Pudong has expanded to the maximum policy-permitted range of 241.85 kilometers.
As a pioneer in the field, AutoX was among the first to receive permits to operate in the central urban areas, airports, and major transportation hubs of several international megacities. These include Beijing Daxing International Airport, Shenzhen Bao'an Airport, Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, Beijing South Railway Station, and Shanghai Jiading Anting North Railway Station, some of the busiest and most significant transportation hubs in the world.
