Beijing (Gasgoo)- From May 26 to June 9, 2024, the French Open, one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, is taking place in Paris. As a premium partner of the French Tennis Federation, Renault, alongside global autonomous driving solution developer WeRide, is providing the exclusive L4 autonomous shuttle service for the event at Roland Garros Stadium.

The autonomous shuttle (Robobus) service operates between Roland-Garros Stadium and the P2 Parking area, covering a round-trip distance of approximately 5 km with a total journey time of around 12 minutes.

The WeRide Robobus, the world's first truly commercially deployed self-driving minibus, is equipped with WeRide’s fully self-developed autonomous driving software and hardware systems. This service aligns with global public transportation’s shift towards low-carbon, green solutions, offering autonomous micro-transit shuttle services across various scenarios such as urban public roads, major airports, resort centers, and popular tourist destinations. The WeRide Robobus has been tested and operated in nearly 30 cities worldwide, making it a flagship product for WeRide's global market expansion.

The deployment of the autonomous shuttle service at Roland-Garros marks the first step in the collaborative effort between WeRide and Renault Group to advance autonomous, low-carbon public transportation. It also signifies WeRide's official entry into the European market. Moving forward, WeRide and Renault will work together to deliver safe, comfortable, and eco-friendly autonomous public transport services to European users.

The long-term goal for Renault Group and WeRide is to develop a localized version of the L4 autonomous shuttle that meets European market demands and requirements. The commercial demand for autonomous shuttles in Europe is projected to reach several thousand units annually within the next few years.
