In March, domestic aluminum extrusion exports increased by 16.99% MoM. Can exports continue to rise in April?

According to customs data, Domestics aluminum extrusion exports (HS code 76041010, 76041090, 76042100, 76042910, 76042990) stood at 73,300 mt in March, a month-on-month increase of 16.99%, but a year-on-year drop of 16.41%. Aluminium semis exports totalled 244,200 mt in Q1 in 2024, up 14.14% YoY.
Guangdong accounted for 46.53% of the total exports, followed by Jiangsu (12.3%) and Shandong (11.74%). It is worth noting that after the CNY holiday, production in various regions returned to normal and the shipment also recovered. Amid falling SHFE/LME aluminum price ratio, China's aluminum exports ushered in good news, and some regions saw gratifying growth.
Among exporting countries, Vietnam returned to the top position in March. The top ten exporting countries are still dominated by Southeast Asia, among which Vietnam, the first, accounts for 9.88% of the monthly exports, followed by Thailand (8.86%) and Malaysia (5.85%).
Overall, with the recovery of downstream demand and the dissipation of the impact of the Spring Festival holiday, domestic aluminum extrusion exports continued to grow in March 2024. In addition, due to falling SHFE/LME aluminum price ratio, the company's export orders on hand increased, and it is expected to maintain a positive growth trend in April.
