SHANGHAI, Feb 7 (SMM) -

Silica

Prices were stable. Mines and traders are gradually entering the holidays, but most silica mines had stocks. Most orders were scheduled until after the Chinese New Year holidays. Shipping capacity has tightened since this week, and the delivery of many raw material orders has been suspended. At present, the ex-mine price of high-grade silica in Inner Mongolia is 400-430 yuan/ton. The ex-mine price of high-grade silica in Hubei is 420-480 yuan/ton. The ex-mine price of low-grade silica in Yunnan is 350~370 yuan/ton.

Supply: Silica supply is tight due to tighter transportation conditions, but most silicon companies have prepared raw material inventories for the Chinese New Year holidays. The overall supply still meet the demand.

In addition, downstream industrial silicon manufacturers will maintain production during the Chinese New Year. However, with the supply of raw materials limited, downstream silicon companies will mostly consume silica in stock in the near future. Silica raw materials may be in demand after the holiday.

Industrial silicon metal

Price: The industrial silicon market gradually closed during the week, and there were very few new orders in the market. Some silicon factories are optimistic about the market and have no intention to ship goods after the Chinese New Year holidays.

Supply and Demand: According to SMM statistics, China's industrial silicon production in January 2024 was 346,100 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 3,500 tons or 1%, and a year-on-year increase of 72,000 tons or 26.4%. Demand side: According to SMM statistics, China's silicone production in January was 191,700 tons, a slight decrease of 0.88% from the previous month. The industry operating rate in January was 80.14%, a slight decrease of 0.71 percentage point from December.

Inventory: According to SMM statistics, the national social inventory of industrial silicon totaled 351,000 tons on February 2, a decrease of 4,000 tons from last week. Inventories at regular social warehouses were 103,000 tons, a week-on-week decrease of 6,000 tons, and inventories at delivery warehouses were 248,000 tons (including those not registered as warehouse receipts), a week-on-week increase of 2,000 tons. As the Chinese New Year holidays approaches, transactions gradually slow down, and the import and export volume of goods in some warehouses during the week decreases month-on-month. The inventory of ordinary warehouses in Huangpu Port generally decreases this week. The local warehouses plan to have a holiday on the 5th and 6th, and the orders are mainly shipped in order to meet the cycle.

Import and Export: Export: Customs data shows that China’s silicon metal exports in December 2023 were 51,600 tons, an increase of 8% month-on-month and 7% year-on-year. The cumulative export volume of silicon metal from January to December 2023 was 573,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 12%. Import: Customs data shows that China’s silicon metal imports in December 2023 were 1,300 tons, a year-on-year increase of 70%. The cumulative import volume of silicon metal from January to December 2023 was 6,500 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 78%.

Silicone

price

Silicone oil: The current price is 15000-15600 yuan/ton, and the price is stable this week.

D4: The current quotation is 14,800 yuan/ton to 15,900 yuan/ton, and the price is stable this week.

107 silicone rubber:The current quotation is 15,100 yuan/ton to 15,800 yuan/ton, and the price is stable this week.

Methyl vinyl silicone rubber:The current quotation is 15,800 yuan/ton to 16,800 yuan/ton, and the price is stable this week.

Silicone oil: The current price is 15,300 yuan/ton to 16,500 yuan/ton, and the price is stable this week.

Supply and Demand

On the supply side, there is one DMC enterprise in Inner Mongolia and Zhejiang that is still shut down, and the supply side is stable. In terms of demand, downstream companies have all stopped working for the holidays, and transactions have dropped rapidly.

Polysilicon

price

Polysilicon: The mainstream prices of recharging polysilicon and dense polysilicon were 60-63 yuan/kg and 56-60 yuan/kg respectively. Polysilicon prices stayed stable this week.

Supply and Demand

With the conclusion of the new round of polysilicon orders, polysilicon prices have once again entered a stable period. Market transactions are relatively quiet before the holidays, so prices have not changed yet.

Silicon wafer

price

Silicon wafer: The mainstream average traded price of monocrystalline silicon wafer M10 and G12 stood at 2.03 yuan/piece and 2.9 yuan/piece respectively.

Supply and Demand

Silicon wafer prices have not changed this week, market trade volume has dropped significantly before the Chinese New Year holidays, and silicon wafer production schedules in February have not changed significantly compared with January. There will be a risk of accumulation of silicon wafers in the later period.

High-purity quartz sand

price

Recently, the price of high-purity quartz sand middle layer sand has dropped slightly. The domestic price of inner layer sand is 390,000-440,000 yuan/ton, the price of middle layer sand is 180,000-210,000 yuan/ton, and the price of outer layer sand is 50,000-120,000 yuan/ton. .

Supply and Demand

The market was relatively stable this week. Some small companies have reduced their production lines. However, domestic supply and demand basically remained unchanged, and downstream demand continued to weaken.

[SMM PV News] New Time Unveils 4-Year Roadmap for Perovskite Production in Italy
Italy's New Time has outlined a four-year roadmap to industrialize perovskite PV production in the Emilia-Romagna region. Developed in collaboration with researchers from Italy and the Netherlands, the strategy targets formulation optimization in year one, small-scale certification production in year two, pilot-scale development in year three, and full-scale manufacturing by the fourth year. The initiative will utilize existing industrial facilities and is internally funded through reinvested company profits. By streamlining production processes, New Time aims to make perovskite modules cost-competitive with existing PV technologies while driving gains in performance and efficiency.

[SMM PV News] Zambia Launches 'CFIP' to Procure 300 MW of Solar
The Zambian government has launched the Carbon Feed-In Premium Program ('CFIP') to procure 300 MW of new grid-connected solar capacity. The initiative is open to independent power producers and national utility ZESCO. Eligible solar projects must have a capacity between 30 MW and 100 MW and include an on-site battery energy storage system with at least 30 minutes of capacity. ZESCO will act as the primary offtaker. Funded through a bilateral agreement, Norway will pay for the verified emissions reductions generated by the projects. Expressions of interest are due by May 31.
