Kloeckner Metals UK has recently inaugurated its cutting-edge stockholding and processing facility at Newbridge Link in the Newbridge Industrial Estate in Edinburgh. Opting for a strategic location just 10 miles from the city centre, the company has established the largest metal stockholding and processing warehouse in Scotland, featuring an impressive internal space exceeding 100,000 square feet and an accompanying 11,114 square feet office pavilion.
Peter Whiting, CEO of Kloeckner Metals UK, said, "At Kloeckner, we continue to showcase a profound commitment to sustainability, investing in cutting-edge technologies and advanced equipment to deliver sustainable, efficient and dependable services. The opening of our new site in Newbridge is a testament to our unwavering commitment to meeting the needs of the Scottish market while actively contributing to a more sustainable future."
CBRE, representing asset managers JCAM Property, facilitated the leasing of Unit 1 at Newbridge Link, while LSH represented Kloeckner in the transaction. Reflecting both the occupier and landlord's dedication to sustainability, CBRE played a crucial role by advising and incorporating a Green Lease Clause into the deal structure.
The selection of the building was influenced by the superior refurbishment executed by the landlord. Newbridge's strategic location was also a key factor, providing Kloeckner with exceptional connectivity to enhance its broader operations across the UK.
Mike Brown, Associate Director at CBRE, stated, “CBRE is delighted to have secured this excellent deal on behalf of the landlord, signalling one of the largest industrial transactions in Scotland for 2023. The fact the building was let prior to a formal launch of the marketing provides evidence to the critical lack of good quality industrial buildings in Scotland currently, and Kloeckner’s acquisition is adequate reward for JCAM Property who took on this large-scale project.”

【SMM Aluminum Flash News】Over 3bn aluminium cans and PET bottles returned as Sweden nears 90% recycling target
The Swedish deposit return system (DRS) operator Returpack/Pantamera reported that in 2025, over 3 billion PET bottles and aluminium cans were returned via Sweden’s DRS. Compared to the record of 2024, the 2025 count marks an increase of 130 million. The operator adds that returning the aluminium and PET containers via the deposit system cuts the carbon footprint by half, thereby promoting recycling and sustainability. 2025 data shows that material customers received 27,826 tonnes of aluminium and 24,835 tonnes of PET. On average, each person returned 283 containers, reflecting an improvement of the 2024 performance by 4 per cent. The overall return rate of Sweden also increased by 88.4 per cent, bringing the nation close to its target of a 90 per cent return rate.
