Beijing (Gasgoo)- At the CES 2024, Chinese autonomous driving solution developer DeepRoute announced its partnership with tech giant Tencent in the realm of mapping, aiming to help automakers create advanced intelligent vehicles without HD maps reliance.

These vehicles are anticipated to hit the consumer market later this year.

The DeepRoute-Driver3.0 (“Driver3.0”), DeepRoute’s high-level intelligent driving solution, will harness Tencent's navigation maps, enabling advanced point-to-point driving within urban areas. The companies claimed this as the industry's maiden mass-produced intelligent driving solution solely reliant on navigation maps for advanced urban driving.

Compared to HD maps and customized maps, navigation maps offer broader coverage with significantly reduced costs. Integrating navigation maps into intelligent vehicles will expand the scope for users to experience advanced driving functions in more regions. Ongoing over-the-air updates will further enhance this intelligent driving system, aiming to provide a continuously improving experience nationwide, said DeepRoute.

Performance-wise, by utilizing navigation maps, the Driver3.0 outperforms solutions relying on HD maps. It accurately identifies road elements and provides real-time vehicle positioning. In scenarios involving irregular intersections, sudden lane changes, or adverse weather, the Driver3.0 is able to makes intelligent decisions based on real-time conditions.

Moreover, Tencent also offers DeepRoute with value-added services like real-time traffic information, bolstering the efficiency of the Driver3.0. Successfully tested in multiple vehicle models including sedans, SUVs, and MPVs, the Driver3.0 underwent comprehensive trials in cities like Shenzhen, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chongqing.
