Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) announced that TRIMET Aluminium has received ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) Certifications for its facilities in Hamburg and Voerde. The facilities are known for the manufacture of molten aluminium and sows. The firm employs both primary and recycled aluminium to make molten aluminium and aluminium wire, as well as rolling ingots, extrusion billets, and casting alloys. The Hamburg factory has a capacity of 135,000 tonnes per year, while the Voerde facility has a capacity of 95,000 tonnes per year.
"With the certification of our production sites in Hamburg and Voerde, we have reached an important milestone in our sustainability strategy. Because with Essen, Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne and now Hamburg and Voerde, all of our primary production sites currently meet an industry-leading sustainability standard for the aluminium value chain. Trimet will continue to develop innovative technologies and efficient processes to minimize our environmental impact and create a sustainable future for us all," said Philipp Schlüter, Chairman of the Executive Board of TRIMET Aluminium SE.
TRIMET Aluminium SE has gained Performance Standard certification across all of its key aluminium manufacturing locations with the accreditation of these facilities. Earlier in May 2023, Trimet's aluminium facility in Essen was enlisted against the ASI Performance Standard Certification for developing, producing, and selling various aluminium products. TÜV NORD CERT GmbH conducted independent third-party audits of the TRIMET Aluminium SE Hamburg and Voerde plants. The audits were completed before May 31, 2023, allowing for Performance Standard V2 certification.
"We warmly congratulate TRIMET Aluminium SE for achieving ASI Performance Standard Certifications at its Hamburg and Voerde sites. Process digitalisation and modernisation, technology adoption, as well as the utilisation of process heat for district heating underscores the company's efforts towards energy efficiency and carbon footprint reduction. TRIMET Aluminium SE's Performance Standard V2 certifications acknowledges their progress in the adoption and implementation of broader responsible production policies and practices," added Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI.

Amid this structural adjustment in global regional demand, with gains in some markets offsetting declines in others, China’s prebaked anode exports can offset the pressure from weakening demand in traditional markets through market structure optimization and a shift in the center of orders. Coupled with its own capacity and supply chain advantages, China’s prebaked anode exports are expected to maintain a certain increase for the full year.
