Wang Wenbin, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC, presided over a regular press conference and refuted arguments that China's economic slowdown may pose risks to global economic development. A reporter said that a few Western politicians and media have recently said that China’s economic slowdown may pose risks to global economic development and asked what’s the spokesperson’s comment on it. Wang Wenbin responded that such arguments are not in line with the facts. The Chinese economy continues to recover and is on the whole picking up. China remains an important engine for world economic growth. Recently, China has introduced a series of targeted and high-value measures to restore and expand consumption, promote the development and growth of the private economy, and increase efforts to attract foreign investment, which have been widely welcomed by domestic and foreign investors. A small number of Western politicians and media have hyped up the periodic problems in China's post-epidemic economic recovery process, which will inevitably be proved wrong by reality. Wang Wenbin stressed that the Chinese economy has strong resilience, great potential, full vitality, and long-term sound fundamentals. We have the confidence, conditions, and ability to achieve the annual economic and social development goals and tasks with high quality and continue to provide a steady source of driving force for world economic recovery and growth.
