SHANGHAI, Jun 13 (SMM) – The bid price of aluminium fluoride was lowered by 100 yuan/mt to 8,600 yuan/mt in June. SMM aluminium fluoride and cryolite prices stood between 8,600-10,000 yuan/mt and 6,500-7,900 yuan/mt respectively last week. Aluminium fluoride prices may hold steady this week.
Raw materials: The price of fluorite remained high amid low operating rates at mines, but inched lower to 3,050-3,200 yuan/mt as the inflows of imported fluorite slightly eased the tight domestic supply. The price of sulphuric acid stabilised.
In terms of supply and demand, some aluminium fluoride enterprises cut output due to raw material shortage and poor profits. Most enterprises in Shandong, Henan and Gansu kept just one production line in operation. Hydropower generation in Yunnan has gradually picked up recently, and SMM predicts that a small amount of local aluminium capacity may be resumed in late June. In addition, 200,000 mt of aluminium capacity in Guizhou and Sichuan is waiting to be resumed. These will boost aluminium fluoride demand. Overseas orders have improved slightly.
