SHANGHAI, Apr 7 (SMM) - Switzerland announced that it will reduce incentives for small PV systems in favor of larger projects that use all available roof surface.

The Energy Subsidy Regulation stipulates that subsidies for photovoltaic systems with an output power up to 5kW must be removed from the rooftop PV subsidy scheme. Swiss authorities currently offer a one-time payment of CHF 200 ($221) for PV installations up to 5kW. Systems ranging in size from 5kW to 30kW are entitled to a rebate of CHF 380 to CHF 440. However, this refund will also be reduced by CHF 20 from 2024 onwards. "Smaller, more expensive systems see a greater drop in total rewards than larger systems," said the Swiss Ministry of Energy. "This would create an incentive, if possible, to build larger systems using the entire suitable roof area to generate electricity."

What Could Change if Middle East Aluminum Trade Reroutes—and Supply Becomes Substitutable
Strait of Hormuz disruptions and Iran tensions are driving up aluminum prices and premiums. Aluminium Bahrain and Qatalum have cut output, while feedstock is tight. Rerouting via Port of Sohar or Saudi ports raises costs and delays. Buyers are turning to China, India, Russia, Canada, and scrap to offset risk. Prolonged disruption could reduce Middle East market share and reprice it as higher-risk supply.
