SHANGHAI, Mar 21 (SMM) - According to an SMM survey of 30 lead-acid battery producers, their average inventory of finished products stood at 18.68 days in February, down 4.25 days on the month and 3.5 days on the year.
This survey sample involves an annual capacity of 279.99 million KvAh and an annual lead consumption of 6.34 million mt. The survey covers 15 producers of traction batteries, 12 producers of starting batteries and 3 producers of stationary batteries.
According to research, the lead-acid battery market fully recovered in February, and traders carried out routine post-holiday stockpiling since January 25. Among them, electric bicycle battery traders were more active in restocking, and some of them carried out the second round of stockpiling in early February. Due to the pandemic outbreak before the CNY holiday, logistics in some remote areas were halted at the end of December 2022. After the logistics services resumed at the end of January, traders with low inventory restocked actively amid the strong market demand for electric bicycle battery. However, battery output was limited in the initial stage, hence the inventory of most companies declined. In addition, the consumption of automobile battery was mediocre, hence traders only restocked routinely. The follow-up orders were limited.
