China Zinc Concentrate Output Recovered in February

SHANGHAI, Mar 16 (SMM) -According to the new SMM survey sample, the domestic zinc concentrate output stood at 147,300 mt in zinc content in February, up 18,700 mt in zinc content month-on-month, and the average operating rate was 58.3%, an increase of 7.4 percentage points month-on-month.

The month-on-month increase was mainly driven by production resumptions after the Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday. However, the growth was constrained by several factors. 1. It took time for production equipment to start up and workers to return to work. 2. Mines in Inner Mongolia delayed production resumption plans due to the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (short as “Two Sessions”). 3. Production in Tibet and Gansu was recovering slowly as the weather had not warmed up.
