Since the end of 2022, frequent interference accidents affected the copper concentrate spot market.

SHANGHAI, Mar 7 (SMM) - Since the end of 2022, frequent interference accidents affected the copper concentrate spot market. The fire accident at the port of Ventanas, the blockade of the port of Matarani and the suspension of copper concentrate loading at the port of Cobre Panama restrained the shipments. At the same time, the production was limited as Las Bambas and Antapaccay were hit by community blockades, Cobre Panama was shut down, and Grasberg and Batu Hijau were shut down due to natural disasters. Under the double blow of production and delivery, the copper concentrate TCs index fell for thirteen consecutive times. As of last Friday (March 3), the SMM Imported Copper Concentrate Index (Weekly) stood at $77.64/mt, $0.24/mt lower than a week earlier.
