Italy's energy regulator 'ARERA' has issued a favorable opinion to the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, backing grid operator Terna's proposal to set a 16 GWh target for the 2029 'MACSE' storage capacity auction. While endorsing the transmission system operator's overall strategy, 'ARERA' stressed the need for a prudent approach. The regulator advised that the actual auction volumes must account for evolving market dynamics, specifically any storage capacity that comes online or is procured via the capacity market between the proposed timeline and the official publication of the auction volumes.
