Toyota to Invest $1 Billion in Kentucky and Indiana, Advance Battery Production Plans

On March 23 (local time), Toyota announced plans to invest $800 million in its Kentucky plant to prepare for a second battery electric vehicle (BEV) production line and expand capacity for the Camry and RAV4.
The company will also invest $200 million across two facilities in Indiana to increase production of the Grand Highlander SUV, while advancing parallel efforts related to battery manufacturing.

Xinjiang Blue Diamond Lithium Energy Technology Co., Ltd. has issued the first public notice for the environmental impact assessment of its lithium salt production project in Toksun County, Turpan, Xinjiang. With a total investment of 2.5 billion yuan, the project will build a production line capable of producing 35,000 tons of battery-grade lithium carbonate and 935 tons of anhydrous lithium chloride per year, along with supporting facilities. As a core project within the Xinjiang Nonferrous Rare Metal Industrial Cluster, it will fill a key gap in the upstream lithium material sector, strengthen the local lithium industrial chain, and accelerate the transformation of regional resource advantages into industrial and economic strengths.

On the evening of March 26, REPT BATTERO released its 2025 annual performance announcement. The company achieved annual operating revenue of 24.334 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 36.7%; and profit attributable to owners of the parent company of 623 million yuan. In 2025, the company's total sales of lithium battery products reached 82.7 GWh, a year-on-year increase of approximately 89.2%. Among these, revenue from power battery products was 10.013 billion yuan, up 35.6% year-on-year; revenue from energy storage battery products was 13.56 billion yuan, up 86.8% year-on-year, with its share of total revenue increasing by 14.9 percentage points to 55.7%.
