The specific process route for LMFP is still being explored, and there is considerable variation among companies without a unified standard. Therefore, the manganese sources used also vary, including tetramanganese, manganese carbonate, manganese sulphate, dimanganese, manganese nitrate, and manganese oxalate, all of which are employed by various companies. However, research has found that tetramanganese is gradually becoming the mainstream trend, including leading shippers such as Hangen Nano and Ronbay Technology, who also adopt this route.
One important reason is that tetramanganese is cheaper and offers significant economic benefits; secondly, tetramanganese material is also more suitable for the second firing process; thirdly, LMFP with tetramanganese material combined with iron oxide as raw material can achieve a capacity of 140-155 mAh/g; fourthly, the cycle performance is also better than using dimanganese or manganese carbonate for LMFP; fifthly, using iron-doped tetramanganese as raw material can enhance the compaction performance of LMFP.

Manganese-based Battery Materials: Differentiated Trends, Cost-Supported Stability
This week, China’s domestic manganese-based battery materials market has shown a differentiated operation trend. The price of battery-grade manganese tetroxide has slightly declined, the price of electrolytic manganese dioxide has slightly increased, and lithium manganate has maintained a weak balance of supply and demand.

Manganese Sulfate: Sustained Rally on Cost Support & Firm Demand
In contrast to the typical price declines seen during the traditional spring festival low season from January to February in previous years, China’s domestic manganese sulfate market has recently staged an independent rally of “strong performance amid the off-season”, with prices rising steadily along the way.

Silicon metal production to recover in March after falling in February
Silicon metal production in February was 275,700 mt, down 26.6% MoM and 5% YoY. In terms of daily output, the average daily production in February decreased by about 19% MoM from January. It is projected that silicon metal production in March will increase to over 340,000 mt MoM, with an average daily production increase of approximately 13% MoM.
