Korea Zinc Secures Grid Connection Approval for Australian ESS Project

According to industry sources on June 15, Sebang Lithium Battery will establish a local subsidiary in Ohio, the United States, and handle production of grid-scale ESS battery modules for LG Energy Solution. The order is valued at KRW 1.8 trillion, with revenue expected to begin from the fourth quarter of this year.

Korea Railroad Corporation, or KORAIL, announced on June 15 that it will restrict passengers from carrying items equipped with lithium batteries from July 1 to ensure passenger safety amid fire risks. Restricted items include all personal mobility devices powered by lithium batteries, such as electric scooters and electric bicycles, as well as portable large-capacity lithium batteries exceeding 160 Wh, including those used for broadcasting and camping.

Chengxin Lithium announced that the company held the first meeting of the ninth board of directors on June 12, 2026, reviewed and approved the "Proposal on Applying for the Designated Delivery Warehouse for Lithium Hydroxide at GFEX," agreed that the company apply to GFEX for the qualification of a designated delivery warehouse for lithium hydroxide, and authorized the management to submit application materials and handle other related matters. This application is beneficial for expanding the company's visibility and influence, and improving its risk resistance capability and profitability. This matter remains uncertain, with the final outcome subject to GFEX's approval.
