[SMM Steel] SE Asia Import Billet Falls Further as Demand Stays Weak

[SEA] Southeast Asian import billet prices continued to soften, with the reference level down by around 2.5 USD/tonne w-o-w to about 485-495 USD/tonne CFR. China-origin 5SP offers fell to around 495-497 USD/tonne CFR, while some traders invited bids near 490 USD/tonne CFR. 3SP offers were mostly at 485-490 USD/tonne CFR, with Iranian material as low as 480 USD/tonne CFR, but buyers remained cautious amid weak demand and uncertain shipment timing.

[India] Raipur billet index fell by around 1 USD/tonne to about 451 USD/tonne EXW, as buyers slowed fresh procurement after sufficient bookings in the previous session. Weak enquiries and softer sentiment in neighbouring markets kept spot trading limited. Rebar and wire rod prices stayed stable, while sponge iron eased by around 1 USD/tonne. The PDRI-to-billet conversion spread stood at about 171 USD/tonne."

[Sheets & Plates] Today, HRC prices were mainly stable, while export prices for other sheets & plates saw day-on-day declines. HRC transaction prices were at $491-500/mt. The situation in the Strait of Hormuz fluctuated. This week, there were some new inquiries for HRC, medium-thickness plates, and other products from that region. However, actual transactions remained relatively limited, according to seller feedback. Additionally, about 10,000 mt of Q195 HRC for re-export was recently sold to Vietnam at a CFR price of $500-503/mt.
