LG Energy Solution signs KRW 2 trillion BESS supply contract with DTE Energy

According to DTE Energy on May 28, the company recently signed a USD 1.6 billion BESS supply contract with LG Energy Solution Vertech.

Under the agreement, DTE Energy will receive BESS units for eight energy storage projects to be developed across Michigan over the next two years, using batteries produced at LG Energy Solution’s Holland plant in Michigan.

The contract will secure a total battery storage capacity of 6 GWh.

Recently, the commissioning ceremony for Hubei Sentery New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.'s annual 50,000-ton lithium battery recycling anode material project was held in the Dongbao Industrial Park. It is reported that this project was jointly constructed by Hubei Sentery New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. and Jiangsu Huasheng Lianying New Energy Materials Co., Ltd., building two high-performance, multi-type graphite anode material recycling production lines. Upon reaching full production capacity, this project will significantly boost the improvement of the new energy and new materials industrial layout in Dongbao and strengthen the industrial cluster.

POSCO Future M begins construction of LFP cathode plant

POSCO Future M announced on May 28 that CNP New Materials Technology, its joint venture with FINO and CNGR, held a safety ceremony and began construction of an LFP cathode plant at the Yeongilman 4 General Industrial Complex in Pohang. The plant is scheduled to begin mass production in 2027. Production capacity will be gradually expanded in line with market demand, with plans to increase annual capacity to up to 50,000 mt.
