[SMM Lithium Battery Anode Raw Material Market Weekly Review: Artificial Graphite Supply-Demand Tightness and Firm Prices, Natural Graphite Deep in Weak Demand Stalemate] June 25 News: This week, graphite anode material prices remained stable.

SMM, June 25 —

This week, artificial graphite anode material prices remained stable. Cost side, the anode cost burden had been gradually absorbed earlier, but profitability of each producer remained at a low level. Supply-demand side, downstream market demand was steadily rising. First- and second-tier anode producers, relying on their own integrated capacity, were unable to fully take on existing orders, resulting in a significant gap in finished goods supply. Therefore, against the backdrop of narrow profit margins and tight spot supply, artificial graphite anode material prices ran steady. End-use demand for natural graphite anode material remained sluggish, and downstream purchasers' willingness to push for lower prices when purchasing remained prominent. However, at present, profits in natural graphite production have been squeezed to a critical bottom line, and producers are unable to continue cutting prices to secure orders. Industry-wide production cuts and temporary shutdowns occur frequently, with currently no room for wild swings in product prices.

Outlook: The tight supply-demand pattern in the artificial graphite sector is expected to intensify further, with the market trend having the supporting conditions for a steady rise. Natural graphite, constrained by persistent weak end-use demand, sees market transaction prices hovering close to production costs. In the short term, the market trend may continue to show a sideways stalemate pattern.

Recently, the official website of Zhuzhou Economic Development Zone in Hunan Province released information regarding a pre-approval public notice for the environmental impact report of the annual 10,000-ton lithium battery material production line recycling renovation project of Hunan Leaguer Group Co., Ltd. The project is located at No. 1728, Changlong Road, Zhuzhou Economic Development Zone, Hunan Province. The project will utilize existing factory buildings for renovation. It involves retrofitting the existing ternary precursor cathode material production line 1 (5,000 t/a) by adding a nickel-cobalt-manganese mixed metal dissolution and impurity removal process; converting the existing 5,000 t/a iron phosphate production line into ternary precursor cathode material production line 2 (5,000 t/a); trial production of ternary precursor cathode materials will continue to rely on the existing pilot-scale line; simultaneously, the treatment measures for production exhaust gas, wastewater, and solid waste will be renovated.

[Lithium Battery: Yongtai Technology Secures 3-Year, 90,000-Ton Electrolyte Material Order From CATL]
On June 25, Zhejiang Yongtai Technology Co., Ltd. issued an announcement stating that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Zhejiang Yongtai New Energy Materials Co., Ltd., has recently entered into a procurement cooperation agreement with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) regarding the electrolyte additive VC material, with a term valid from June 1, 2026, to December 31, 2029. The agreement specifies the product delivery plan for the next three years: 20,000 tons ±5% in 2027, 30,000 tons ±10% in 2028, and 40,000 tons ±12% in 2029. Additionally, the agreement stipulates that if CATL's demand for electrolytes changes due to market demand fluctuations, technology route changes, or other reasons, CATL has the right to revise the required quantity of vinylene carbonate, with actual demand to be determined by specific purchase orders.
