【SMM New Energy News】Xinjiang Improves Capacity Tariff Mechanism to Support Energy Storage Growth

The Guizhou Energy Regulatory Office has released the draft for comment of the "Implementation Plan for Centralized Quoting of Centralized New Energy Power Generation Enterprises in Guizhou (Trial)". The plan clarifies that for new energy power generation enterprises applying for centralized quoting, the combined total installed capacity after centralization must not exceed that of the single largest coal-fired power plant in the Guizhou electricity market. Furthermore, the centralized scale may be further compressed if it potentially impacts fair market competition.

The Trump administration will provide $17.5 billion in loans to support utilities in ordering reactor equipment designed by Westinghouse, aiming to revive the construction of large-scale nuclear power plants in the US. Trump views nuclear reactors as a core power source for data centers and economic growth, targeting 10 large conventional reactors under construction by 2030 and a tripling of the nation's nuclear capacity to 400 GW.

On June 22, Wan Jinsong, Deputy Administrator of the National Energy Administration (NEA), met with Mohammad Abunayyan, Chairman of ACWA Power. Wan welcomed ACWA Power's participation in China's clean energy projects and supported joint efforts to expand into third-country energy markets. Abunayyan stated that ACWA Power is willing to increase investment in China's PV, energy storage, and hydrogen projects, and collaborate with Chinese energy enterprises to expand markets across the Middle East, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia.
