MMi Daily Iron Ore Report (June 22)

The DCE iron ore futures continued to hit bottom today, with the most-traded I2609 contract closing at 739.5 yuan/mt, down 0.87%. Port spot prices fell by 3-5 yuan/mt from pre-holiday levels.

[Vietnam] Dragged down by sluggish trading, buyers in the Vietnamese hot-rolled coil (HRC) market maintain an extremely strong wait-and-see stance. In an effort to stimulate transactions, some Indian sellers have proactively conceded margins by cutting their HRC offers sharply to 550 USD/tonne CFR Vietnam, representing a significant discount from the previous mainstream asking price of 565 USD/tonne CFR. However, due to weak market expectations and highly depressed purchasing intent, this price reduction has still failed to attract any substantial buying interest.
