Volkswagen CFO Reports Strong European Orders, Plans to Reduce Capital Expenditure

On May 5, BYD Company Limited released its production and sales report for April 2026. In terms of sales, BYD achieved new energy vehicle sales of 321,123 units in April, compared to 380,089 units in the same period last year. Cumulative sales for the year reached 1,021,586 units, a year-on-year decrease of 26.02%. In April, passenger vehicle production was 317,244 units, and sales were 314,100 units, representing year-on-year decreases of 28.63% and 26.17%, respectively. Among these, BEV production was 159,264 units with sales of 156,944 units; PHEV production was 157,980 units with sales of 157,156 units. Commercial vehicle sales in April were 7,023 units, a year-on-year decrease of 16.62%, with bus sales of 440 units, a year-on-year increase of 23.54%.

According to SAIC Volkswagen, SAIC Volkswagen and CAR Inc. recently signed an annual procurement framework agreement and simultaneously completed the delivery of the first batch of vehicles. The car models covered in this signing and delivery included the Volkswagen Lavida Fresh, Passat, Tharu Fresh, Teramont Pro, and Audi E5 Sportback.

Volkswagen's CFO, commenting on Middle East volatility, stated that raw material costs were well hedged, but second-wave impacts on demand and costs could not be ruled out.
