Indonesia Regulation to Seize Idle Land in Strategic Sectors, Streamlining Process to 90 Days

[SMM Aluminum Express News] Indonesia President Prabowo Subianto has signed Government Regulation (PP) No. 48 of 2025 on the Management of Idle Land and Areas (Penertiban Kawasan dan Tanah Telantar). The regulation empowers the government to seize non-productive land deliberately left idle by rights holders or permit owners. It targets strategic sectors including mining, plantations, industry, tourism, and housing. Affected land types: HGU (Business Use Rights), HGB (Building Use Rights), Hak Pakai (Use Rights), and HPL (Management Rights).
Key change: The process, previously taking up to 587 days, is now shortened to 90 days per President Prabowo's directive.
