[SMM PV] Photoelectric conversion efficiency reached a record-breaking 26.2%! China successfully developed a large-area all-perovskite tandem PV module.

Fast Technology, June 17 news: According to media reports, the team of Tan Hairen from Nanjing University, together with Renshuo Solar Energy (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., has achieved an important breakthrough in the field of all-perovskite tandem PV technology.

The research team successfully fabricated a large-area all-perovskite tandem PV module, which was certified by the Japan Electrical Safety & Environment Technology Laboratories (JET) with a photoelectric conversion efficiency as high as 26.2%, setting a new world record for all-perovskite tandem modules of the same area class.

The module has an area of 65 square centimeters and adopts a tunneling recombination junction structure without a hole transport layer. The team innovatively replaced the traditional ultra-thin metal composite layer with a nanocrystalline functional layer, and removed the PEDOT:PSS hole transport layer, achieving structural reconstruction of the interface connection layer.

The latest statistics from the Ningbo Energy Administration show that as of the end of May this year, the installed capacity of distributed PV in Ningbo reached 9.74 million kW, ranking first among all prefecture-level cities in China, and Ningbo’s PV power generation accounted for 10.24% of the total electricity consumption of the whole society. “That means, for every 10 kilowatt-hours of electricity used in production and daily life in Ningbo, one comes from the sun,” said a relevant official from the Ningbo Energy Administration. To accelerate the adjustment of the energy mix, Ningbo began implementing “PV+” projects in ten major areas, including water surfaces, mudflats, agriculture, industry, and commerce, five years ago. Subsequently, relevant policies and measures were introduced to promote the integrated development of distributed PV with industry, transportation, new infrastructure, and rural revitalization. “Ningbo is advancing the development of distributed PV across the entire city to accelerate emission reductions and carbon reduction in this industrial city,” the official said, adding that industrial rooftops account for as much as 84% of the installed capacity, followed closely by residential rooftops at about 8.6%.

A few large-volume orders are currently under negotiation, with the market watching for subsequent outcomes and policy developments. Wafers: Market prices for 183mm wafers stand at 0.88-0.9 yuan/piece, 210RN wafers at 0.98-1.00 yuan/piece, and 210N wafers at 1.16-1.20 yuan/piece. The low-end prices of 183mm and 210N wafers also show a downward trend, widening the price range across all wafer sizes. Top-tier players are holding prices, while smaller enterprises have concluded deals at lower prices.
