[SMM Steel] AM/NS India launches new steel plant project, targeting start-up in Q1 2029

[SMM Steel] ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) officially commenced construction of a new integrated steel plant in Andhra Pradesh on March 23, 2026. With an investment exceeding ₹70,000 crore (approx. $7.5–$8 billion), the facility is designed for an annual capacity of 8.2 million tons. Production is targeted to begin in the first quarter of 2029, focusing on a diverse product range to enhance India's self-sufficiency and reduce import reliance.
