[SMM PV News] German Startup Launches Passive Exoskeleton Device for PV Installers

Published: Jul 7, 2026 13:14

German technology enterprise Htrius has launched a passive exoskeleton designed to reduce the physical strain on workers during the installation and maintenance of PV systems, solar thermal installations, and other energy infrastructure.

Named BionicBack, this exoskeleton is primarily used to relieve the physical exertion caused by repeated bending and lifting, and is suitable for tasks such as PV module and mounting installation, cable laying, inverter assembly, and material handling at construction sites and warehouses.

When workers perform bending tasks or frequently bend to lift items, the device provides mechanical support to the lower back. According to the enterprise, it can follow the body's movements without restricting limb mobility.

As a passive exoskeleton, BionicBack requires no cells or external power supply. The device is lightweight, easy to put on, and can be flexibly adjusted for different users and work scenarios.

Cell Production Schedule Fell More than Expected, Module Inventory Edged Down [SMM Silicon-Based PV Morning Briefing]
[SMM Silicon-based PV Morning Meeting Minutes: Cell Production Schedule Fell Below Expectations, Module Inventory Edges Down] The transaction price ranges for various Topcon sizes remained stable, with 183N and 210R operating steadily at 0.265-0.27 Yuan/W. At this stage, the market's momentum for continuously selling goods at low prices has noticeably weakened. Combined with some producers releasing production cut plans, enterprises' willingness to actively dump goods at low prices has narrowed somewhat. Futures have entered a phase of weak stabilization in the short term. However, end-use demand has not shown substantial improvement, downstream procurement remains predominantly wait-and-see, and the market still allows for discussions on a small number of actual orders at low prices. The supply-demand pressure pattern in the industry has not been fully resolved.
