[Solar PV: US Court Issues Preliminary Injunction Halting Regulatory Delays on Renewables]

Published: Apr 24, 2026 12:33
U.S. District Judge Denise Casper has issued a preliminary injunction against the Department of the Interior (DOI) and other agencies, halting administrative actions that have delayed wind and solar projects. Ruling the Trump administration’s attempts to weaken the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) via the OBBBA act as "arbitrary and capricious," the court aims to protect approximately 57.2 GW of threatened clean energy capacity and $905 million in invested capital. This ruling prevents "irreparable harm" to the power grid, allowing developers to resume stalled projects while ensuring renewable energy maintains its competitiveness and legal standing against discriminatory permitting hurdles.
