LME Copper Rises 1.17% Amid Improved Market Sentiment and Geopolitical Tensions
Overnight, LME copper opened at $13,299/mt, and after opening, the center fluctuated downward to hit a low of $13,244/mt, then rose to touch a high of $13,350/mt by the close, finally settling at $13,349.5/mt, a gain of 1.17%. Overnight, the most-traded SHFE copper 2604 contract opened at 102,880 yuan/mt, touched a high of 103,250 yuan/mt early in the session, then the center moved down to hit a bottom of 102,520 yuan/mt, finally closing at 103,040 yuan/mt, up 0.58%. On the macro front, tensions from US military buildup ahead of the next round of US-Iran talks, combined with turmoil in Mexico, supported precious metals like gold and silver, which held up well and provided a positive influence on copper prices.
