[SMM New Energy] Zijin Mining's Three-Year Plan: Lithium Carbonate Production to Increase from 25,000 mt to 320,000 mt

LG Energy Solution will produce prismatic batteries for energy storage systems (ESS) at its Lansing, Michigan facility, which it has converted to sole ownership following the departure of General Motors. The plant will serve as the company’s first production base for ESS-dedicated prismatic batteries, with Tesla confirmed as the end customer.

POSCO Group announced on the 25th that it signed a lithium supply agreement with SK On on the 24th. Under the contract, POSCO Group will supply up to 25,000 tons of lithium from this year through 2028. The volume is sufficient to produce batteries for approximately 400,000 electric vehicles and will be used in SK On’s EV battery projects in Europe and North America.

Data from the National Energy Administration showed that, based on statistical analysis of 53,300 highway charging piles included in the national charging facility monitoring service platform, from the 28th day of the twelfth lunar month (February 15) to the seventh day of the first lunar month (February 23), the total number of EV charging sessions on highways reached 6.021 million, with a total charging volume of 149.7675 million kWh and a daily average charging volume of 16.6408 million kWh, up 52.01% YoY compared to the daily average during last year's Chinese New Year holiday, setting a new historical record.
