Today, the mainstream transaction price for magnesium ingot in the Fugu area was 16,350-16,450 yuan/mt, flat from the previous working day; the China FOB price was $2,320-2,380/mt.

Supply and Demand

Magnesium prices held steady yesterday. Approaching the Chinese New Year, primary magnesium smelters' willingness to sell weakened on the supply side, overall market offers were stable, and the pace of logistics shipments slowed down significantly. Affected by logistics, spot transactions in the downstream domestic trade market were sluggish, with only small amounts of just-in-time procurement; transactions were mainly futures orders. For foreign trade, some tenders for orders were initiated in the first half of the month, mostly for forward delivery by the end of March.

Magnesium Alloy

Prices

Today, the mainstream tax-included ex-factory price for magnesium alloy in China was 18,600-18,800 yuan/mt; the China magnesium alloy FOB price was $2,600-2,650/mt.

Supply and Demand

The magnesium alloy market showed a pattern where both the benchmark price and the processing fee held steady yesterday. On the supply side, magnesium alloy producers finished raw material stockpiling, with most alloy enterprises maintaining normal production. On the demand side, downstream die-casting and end-user enterprises were on holiday successively, market transactions returned to mediocre, and the current market supply-demand maintained a tight balance. Magnesium alloy prices are expected to hold steady in the short term.

Magnesium Powder

Prices

Today, the mainstream tax-included ex-factory price for 20-80 mesh magnesium powder in China was 17,550-17,750 yuan/mt; the China FOB price was $2,480-2,540/mt.

Supply and Demand

The magnesium powder market operated steadily overall yesterday. On the supply side, magnesium powder enterprises had basically completed pre-holiday stockpiling of raw material magnesium ingots, and the production pace gradually slowed down. Demand-side performance weakened, domestic trade market procurement basically concluded, stockpiling nearly completed, coupled with a decline in logistics capacity, the trading atmosphere cooled; new orders in the foreign trade market this month were also relatively limited.

[SMM Titanium Weekly Review: Titanium Market Diverged Post-Holiday, Titanium Dioxide Led Gains While Titanium Products Steadily Recovered] This week, the titanium industry chain showed divergent performance. Titanium concentrate operated steadily, with mines awaiting new March orders. Sentiment for titanium dioxide price hikes remained strong, led by the chloride process; high sulphuric acid costs supported expectations for price increases, though actual implementation still depends on demand follow-through. Titanium slag was in the doldrums, under cost pressure, with prices consolidating at the bottom. Sponge titanium saw weak supply and demand, prices held steady, and future performance relies on downstream restocking to boost recovery. The titanium products market recovered steadily, mainly driven by rigid demand restocking, and is expected to stabilize next week.
