Dongwha Electrolyte Strengthens Strategic Partnership with PGT and Cheonbo to Target North American Battery Market

Dongwha Electrolyte said on the 10th that it is strengthening a strategic partnership with specialty fine chemicals firm PGT and comprehensive fine materials company Cheonbo to respond to the North American battery materials market and expand technical collaboration. Under the agreement, Dongwha Electrolyte will source domestically produced lithium hexafluorophosphate from PGT and mass-produce high-quality electrolytes at its Tennessee manufacturing facility in the U.S. The company plans to accelerate its localization strategy by supplying products that meet supply-chain regulatory requirements to local battery cell makers and automakers.

It is understood that the project primarily adopts the biomass pressurized bubbling fluidized bed gasification process, with the scope of the process package extending from the atmospheric raw material receiving bin of the gasification framework to the outlet of the syngas scrubber, including the ash and slag discharge unit, and wastewater discharge after ammonia stripping treatment.

European Automotive Battery Company (ACC) has officially announced the suspension of its plans to build battery gigafactories in Italy and Germany. ACC, jointly funded by Stellantis, Mercedes-Benz, and TotalEnergies, was originally expected to enhance the autonomy of the European EV supply chain. However, due to lower-than-expected demand in the EV market, Stellantis recently announced a €22 billion loss and correspondingly scaled back its electrification investments. CEO Antonio Filosa stated that the actual required battery capacity will be significantly lower than initially planned.
